Where is the City Council of Nairobi?.
I guess right now they are napping as
innocent Kenyans in the slum of mukuru-mariguini continue to suffer
after a sewer line broke leading to polluted water paving its way
into their shanties.
Can you live with feaces here and there
inside your own house? I don't think so cause the smell alone will
make you sick and curse heavens.
Believe me this is the situation that
these fellow Kenyans have endured for the past one month.
The situation have been made worse by
current weather condition as rain water mixes with this sewer water
and attacks the slum causing mayhem.
The pleas to the area councilor Mr
Manoah has bore no fruits although he gave the area a quick visit
before disappearing into the unknown.
The residents' efforts to repair the
broken sewer line were in vain although they managed to put stones
here and there to stop the polluted water from getting into their
humble homes especially during the rains.
“Is this a case of
negligence, ignorance or just the mere fact that this is an illegal
settlement?. Some of us have small children who are still
breastfeeding and given the condition, they are at a greater danger.
Why is the government ignoring us to such extent? Or don't we pay
taxes just like all Kenyans?”. asked a bitter woman who dint want
to be named.
None of the village elders or the area
chief was there to give their insights or efforts regarding the
issue.
The situation has affected more than
500 households in the slum.
Dude... as much as you are concerned, 1. you should post this in the CIty council website, rather than on PKs personal facebook page... and FYI.. PK is not the current Town Clerk... maybe you should keep up with INFORMATION
