Notice to all encroachers on Railway land

It seems that slum residents have a curse on them cause its as though problems to them are just but part of their lives!they keep streaming in one after the other.

In the latest incidents Kenya Railway has brought to the attention of all members of the public who are illegally occupying Kenya Railway land, reserves and corridors that the corporation  will repossess all such land, reserves and corridors.

In a public notice, the Kenya  Railway stated that it was its intention to reclaim all land within 100 feet on either side of the railway line which is reserved for railway operations to ensure safety of railway traffic as well as the general public, hence any unauthorized persons who have entered such land has been given a thirty day notice to voluntarily move out of the land or face forceful eviction and prosecution for trespass without any further reference to them upon expiry of the notice.

The mukuru residents in their defense have cried foul and asked the government to give them more time or come to their RESCUE something which seems impossible.

Mukuru slums demolition

Mukuru slum residents are now faced with a major setback after the Kenya Railways announced that they would demolish all structures built on the railway line or along the railway line.

The residents have been given a one month notice to evacuate or be forcefully evacuated.

However the residents seem not to be in a hurry to move out despite panicking.

"Yes am frustrated and definitely would love to move so as not to be a victim of the demolition but were would i go?,i have lived here since my childhood",lamented Mr Odipo a slum resident in Mukuru.

Picha mtaani slum screenings

Pawa 254 has started a peace building initiative in Nairobi Kenya.

The initiative labelled "Heal The Nation Slum Screenings" has already hit the ground in all slums in Nairobi region.

The main target being video dens because it is believed that it is in video dens that more people gather to watch football matches.
In Mukuru Slums, the screenings have received a warm welcome and the locals are encouraging people all over Kenya to embrace peace especially during this election year.

"We don't want people to shed blood again and lose life like what happened after the 2007 general elections let peace prevail," echoed one of the residents.
